Samba Prasad Biswas (b. 1982) is a visual artist from Kolkata, West Bengal. Samba completed his BFA (2007) and MFA (2009) from the Faculty of Visual Arts at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Samba is primarily a painter and has been working as a practicing artist for more than 14 years. Samba’s artworks are dynamized by the architectural marvel of construction, musical cadence, and timeless moments of everyday life.Samba, through his rhythmic abstract art, invites viewers to celebrate the beauty of life and nature. His artwork spreads optimism and positivity, transcending barriers of race, religion, and caste, leaving a profound impact on those who engage with it. As an artist, Samba feels a social responsibility to convey a positive message through his vibrant creations, inspiring others to embrace joy and harmony. Samba received Rabindra Bharati University Gold Medals (twice 2008 & 2010), H.K. Kejriwal Cash Award (2006), Rabindra Bharati University Annual Painting Award (2006), Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation State Award (2019), West Bengal Government Charukala Merit Award (2018), Annual Painting Award by Eastern Foundation of Art & Culture (2020); 3rd Patron Art Award by Big I Art Foundation Siliguri (2024), among others. His artwork has been featured in several national and global publications, including TAA (The Art Association) ‘Artists for Peace Anthology’ (2024), published in Geneva, Switzerland; ‘New Feathers Anthology’ (Winter issue 2022), published from Denver, Colorado etc.
